Ink is a very important consideration for any direct marking application. Since the EBS printer allows you to physically print anywhere, it’s important to use an ink that won’t smear or fade on the chosen substrate.

The most aggressive ink in the EBS portfolio is MEK Ink, which is suitable for printing on non-porous surfaces such as metal, plastic and concrete. Acetone Ink is most appropriate for printing on porous surfaces, such as paper, cardboard, wood and textiles. Finally, Ethanol and Water-Based Inks are only suitable for some porous surfaces. See the EBS ink chart here.

Both printers in the Handjet line are programmed to use only one type of ink per printer. Once an EBS has been programmed for one type of ink, you cannot use other inks with it unless you send it back to the manufacturer for reconfiguration. For example, an EBS-260 configured to accept Black Acetone ink cannot use a White Acetone ink cartridge, nor can it use a Black MEK ink cartridge. Though this may seem extreme, it helps preserve print quality prevent damage to the printer. Find the right EBS Printer for your application.
